Biking to work yesterday was awesome (flat tire and all), though very cold. On the upside, I discovered two packs of Smarties in my bag when I got there though and was faced with an open box of KitKats in the evening. I totally caved. My two candy weaknesses: KitKats and Rockets. I won't say how many I had, but I found that if I made a cup of tea and focused on that instead of the box, I easily and quickly forgot about it. Jedi I am.
This morning I did an hour of yoga. I have a bit of a complex where if I don't sweat intensely, I don't feel like I've accomplished a good workout. Last year I did a 30-day yoga challenge (soon to be repeated... teaser!) and loved any minute of it. Not overly sweaty by any means, though it certainly can be. I know I'm doing what I need to when I start shaking uncontrollably while holding, well, almost anything.
In my opinion, everyone doing a repetitive motion, whether sport or occupational, can immensely benefit from yoga at least once a week. Nothing is better to achieve balance: strengthening what's weak and stretching what's tight. The front and back even out same with the left and right. It doesn't have to be a full daily commitment, though a morning 10-minute dose of sun salutations is amazing, even once a week for 30 minutes can show some benefit, prevent injury, and improve performance. Try it and see.
And to close this post, I would also like to let Matthew know that I did my bum exercises and dead bugs after yoga. I've added these to my high-tech reporting system so I can keep track of doing them (urgh) daily... I might need some extra cheese to get me through this.
I challenge myself... a lot.
