Yesterday, I was out the door at 8am and didn't get home until 7:30. Sound familiar? Guess what? I found the time to exercise.
Granted I completely forgot about this challenge throughout the entire day and was much like the poor lady in this picture. Fridays is my teaching day and it's certainly tiring, even though completely fun.
I walked in the door and my first thought, literally, was "oh man, I still have to exercise...maybe I'll eat first or watch an episode of Community..." and as soon as that second part of the sentence came out, I knew I had no choice. I changed into yoga clothes and if you didn't catch it in a previous blog, I'll fill you in that once I'm in my gear, I can't change out until I'm done the workout. The couch would have to wait a mere 30 minutes.
I chose yoga yesterday because I needed some downtime after a long day plus I was still a bit sore from my meeting with Matthew the day before (1,000 lunges and squats...give or take). In the first downward dog, I let out a breath and my muscles seemed to do the same. I, like many of you, hold tension in my shoulders. About 95% of it was gone by the time the half hour was up. I felt accomplished for sticking with my goals, I knew my method of getting into my gear was my only hope, and I felt so thankful - to myself - that I did it. Not only did I get to check off Day 20 as a success, my body clearly thanked me. And that's worth so much more than bragging rights.
I challenge myself... a lot.
