I'm quite happy to report my new discovery: The 30-Day Shred video by Jillian Michaels. I've heard about this a few times before but never actually tried it. I quickly realized that, a) at only 30-minutes a pop, this is awesome, and b) I have very weak arms.
Whenever I help someone move, I never shy away from the heavy boxes or big furniture. But for some reason, the form of a free weight seems to zap all strength from my muscles. I believe kryptonite is the correct word. I feel strong for about the first 5-6 reps, then in a combination of burning and sheer weakness, I share the load of one weight between both arms. Nope. Still not working.
The thing that feels so discouraging is that I can run - far. This makes me feel super strong and athletic but my ego can't seem to take the defeat of little 7-pound weights. I feel moderately sore today which is nice. And a new goal emerges for the end of this Challenge: to show those weights whose boss and burn through that workout like I'm She-Ra.
I challenge myself... a lot.
