Today I woke up sore, specifically my entire core and tush. So don't make me laugh.
Yesterday I met with Matthew from Body and Soul Fitness. Knowing that I'm a runner (and an incredibly unbalanced and uncoordinated one at that), he put together an hour's worth of exercises, one of which I've pictured here. Though not a bus, I felt quite hardcore trying to pull him across the gym floor. I also felt quite silly waddling around with a huge rubber band around my ankles. Good for my glutes, bad for my ego.
I had never worked with a personal trainer before so I wasn't sure what to expect. I find lunges and squats quite boring and I can do them at home. But Matthew made me do them, with a twist (literally) and a medicine ball and him challenging my balance the whole way through. Much more interesting and also MUCH more difficult. That I can't get at home. Plus, I can't get into the lazy man's lunge position as easily...
If anything, because the goal of the whole session was to strengthen my weak bum and balance out my running gait, it makes me want to keep going, actually do my exercises, and really make my running pains history. Thanks, Matthew!
I challenge myself... a lot.
