A comprehensive health history, head-to-toe questioning, and screening physical exam will take approximately 60 minutes in duration, depending on the nature and number of concerns. Since all systems in the body are connected, your initial intake is very thorough. This provides me with a good picture of who you are and what your body goes through, and allows me to piece together patterns of what might be causing your symptoms.
Make a list and bring it with you. We'll cover it all.
This is why we have so much time on the first visit. We'll get going on treatment as well, though the bulk of your plan will come after I've done my homework for you. Individualized plans take time to prepare. In the short-term, you may just need relief and I will try my best to get you some.
Second visit. I do most of the talking. This usually lasts about 30-45 minutes where we go through your treatment plan to make sure it's do-able for you. I answer any questions you may have and make sure it's clear why I'm recommending these things. We cover both the short-term and long-term plans so you're set up with tools going forward.
I don't believe in long-term supplementation unless absolutely necessary, so you'll receive a lot of education. Sometimes it's a lot of information from this visit, but I'm here to help you along the way. We'll tweak this plan as we go depending on your needs.
Follow-up visits. Spaced out accordingly. Subsequent visits typically last 15-30 minutes and will be spaced out according to your goals and concerns. We'll usually meet more frequent at the beginning to ensure everything's going in the right direction and then less often, though never before we expect to see results (otherwise, we'll just be chatting about the weather).
We'll work to get around any roadblocks, anything you're having trouble remembering to take, or anything that tastes so awful you just can't do it.
During any of these visits we may do a unique combination of some of the following:
go through your lab or imaging results so that you understand them
send you for additional blood work if it might help figure out what's going on
do food sensitivity or hormonal testing if it's necessary
do acupuncture
get you started on botanicals or nutritional supplements or clean up what you're currently taking
And we'll always:
go over dietary changes and add in functional/medicinal foods
identify your risk factors from genetics, lifestyle, diet, etc
talk
